Roll a d100

A d100 (percentile dice) produces a number from 1 to 100, each with an equal 1% chance, and the average roll is 50.5. At the table it is usually rolled with two d10s: one for the tens and one for the ones, with 00 and 0 read as 100. Use it for Wild Magic Surges and random tables.

Where you roll a d100 in D&D

Wild Magic Surge: A Wild Magic sorcerer who triggers a surge rolls a d100 on the Wild Magic Surge table to see what happens, from turning blue to casting Fireball centred on themselves.

Random tables: Dungeon Masters use d100 tables for random encounters, treasure hoards, magic items, trinkets and madness effects, because a percentile roll makes it easy to give each result its own likelihood.

How to roll it with two d10s: Roll two d10s of different colours, deciding first which is the tens die. A tens roll of 7 and a ones roll of 3 is 73. A tens roll of 00 and a ones roll of 0 is 100, while 00 and 5 is 5.

Roll a d100 FAQ

How do you roll a d100 with two dice?

Roll two d10s and decide which is the tens die before you roll. Read the tens die first and the ones die second, so 4 and 2 is 42. A 00 on the tens die and a 0 on the ones die is 100.

What is the average roll on a d100?

The average roll on a d100 is 50.5. There is a 50% chance of rolling 51 or higher.

Are percentile dice the same as a d100?

Yes. Percentile dice are two d10s used together to make a number from 1 to 100. A true 100-sided die (sometimes called a Zocchihedron) exists, but most players roll two d10s.

What are the odds of rolling 100 on a d100?

Exactly 1%. Every number from 1 to 100 is equally likely on a fair d100.

About this roller

DnD Dice Roller (dnddiceroller.org) rolls every die with your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator, crypto.getRandomValues, and uses rejection sampling so every face is exactly equally likely. The 3D dice only animate a result that has already been decided this way; the physics never picks the number. Rolls happen on your device and are never sent to our server.
