When you roll 20 dice at once
Huge dice pools: In success-counting games where a 5 or 6 is a hit, twenty dice average 6.67 hits. You reach at least 5 hits 84.85% of the time, at least 7 hits 52.07% of the time, and at least 10 hits 9.19% of the time. Rolling and counting that many physical dice is slow, which is where an online roller helps most.
Epic damage: The biggest spells in D&D roll handfuls of d6s. Meteor Swarm, a 9th-level spell, deals 20d6 fire damage plus 20d6 bludgeoning damage to each creature that fails its save. Roll 20 dice twice, or once and add the dice yourself. For smaller rolls such as 8d6 Fireball damage, use the expression rollers.
The law of large numbers: Twenty dice show why big rolls are predictable. A single die is just as likely to show 1 as 6, but the total of twenty lands within 10 of 70 most of the time, and the most likely total, 70, appears 5.18% of the time. It is a quick classroom demo of how averages settle down as you add more dice. Compare with roll 10 dice.

About this roller
DnD Dice Roller (dnddiceroller.org) rolls every die with your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator, crypto.getRandomValues, and uses rejection sampling so every face is exactly equally likely. The 3D dice only animate a result that has already been decided this way; the physics never picks the number. Rolls happen on your device and are never sent to our server.
