Dice Calculator
This dice calculator rolls any expression in standard dice notation, such as 2d6+3, 1d8+1d6+2 or 4d6dl1. It handles modifiers, mixed dice, keep-highest and drop-lowest, shows every die it rolled and keeps a log. For D&D, 2d20kh1 rolls with advantage and 2d20kl1 rolls with disadvantage.
Type a roll like 2d6+3, 4d6dl1 or 2d20kh1 and press Roll.

Supported notation
- NdX: roll N dice with X sides, e.g. 3d6. Leave out N to roll one die (d20).
- + / − M: add or subtract a number or more dice, e.g. 1d8+1d6+3.
- khN / klN: keep the highest or lowest N dice. 2d20kh1 is advantage, 2d20kl1 is disadvantage.
- dlN / dhN: drop the lowest or highest N dice. 4d6dl1 is the classic ability-score roll.
- d%: the same as d100.
How to use the dice calculator
Type the roll: Write the dice the way a rulebook does: number of dice, a d, then the number of sides, for example 3d8. Add or subtract numbers and more dice with + and −, such as 1d8+1d6+3. Press Roll or hit Enter.
Keep and drop: Add kh or kl followed by a number to keep the highest or lowest dice, or dl and dh to drop them. Dropped dice are shown crossed out so you can check the result. New to the notation? Read the dice notation guide.
See the odds instead: To find out how likely a total is rather than rolling it, put the same expression into the dice probability calculator. For a quick average of common rolls, see the average dice rolls cheat sheet.
Dice Calculator FAQ
How do I roll dice with a modifier?
Type the dice followed by + or − and the modifier, for example 1d20+5 or 2d6-1. The calculator rolls the dice and adds the modifier to the total.
How do I roll with advantage?
Type 2d20kh1. It rolls two d20s and keeps the higher one. For disadvantage, type 2d20kl1 to keep the lower one.
Can I roll different dice together?
Yes. Join them with +, for example 1d8+1d6+3 for a rapier hit with Hunter's Mark. Each group of dice is shown separately in the result.
What is the largest roll I can make?
Each group can have up to 100 dice with up to 1,000 sides, and you can add as many groups as you need.
Are the rolls random?
Yes. Every die is rolled with your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator, and each face is exactly equally likely.

About this roller
DnD Dice Roller (dnddiceroller.org) rolls every die with your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator, crypto.getRandomValues, and uses rejection sampling so every face is exactly equally likely. The 3D dice only animate a result that has already been decided this way; the physics never picks the number. Rolls happen on your device and are never sent to our server.
