Roll a d4 FAQ
How do you read a d4?
Most d4s are pyramids, so no face points up. Read the number that sits at the top point (or along the bottom edge, depending on the die style). An online d4 roller simply shows the number from 1 to 4.
What is the average roll on a d4?
The average roll on a d4 is 2.5, because (1 + 2 + 3 + 4) / 4 = 2.5. Two d4s average 5, and 2d4+2 (a healing potion) averages 7.
What are the odds of rolling a 4 on a d4?
Each face of a fair d4 has a 25% (1 in 4) chance. Rolling a 3 or higher is a 50% chance.
Can I roll more than one d4 at once?
Yes. Click the d4 again or use the plus button to add more d4s, then press Roll. The roller shows each die and the total, and you can add a bonus.

About this roller
DnD Dice Roller (dnddiceroller.org) rolls every die with your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator, crypto.getRandomValues, and uses rejection sampling so every face is exactly equally likely. The 3D dice only animate a result that has already been decided this way; the physics never picks the number. Rolls happen on your device and are never sent to our server.
