Where you roll 4d4 in D&D

Acid Arrow: Acid Arrow (Melf's Acid Arrow in the Player's Handbook) is a 2nd-level ranged spell attack. On a hit the target takes 4d4 acid right away and 2d4 more at the end of its next turn, 15 on average in total. Even a miss splashes the target for half of the initial 4d4. Each slot level above 2nd adds 1d4 to both parts. Honestly, the damage is low for a 2nd-level slot; Scorching Ray or Shatter usually does more. Take it if you want a spell that still does something when the attack misses.

Potion of Greater Healing: This uncommon potion heals 4d4 + 4, between 8 and 20 hit points with 14 on average, twice what a basic Potion of Healing gives. Four d4s make a fairly tight spread: you get 10 or more on the dice 58.59% of the time, and the full 16 only 0.39% (1 in 256). Set the bonus box to 4 and press Roll to roll the whole potion at once.

Upcast Healing Word: The 2024 Healing Word heals 2d4 + your modifier and adds 2d4 per slot level, so a 2nd-level casting heals 4d4 + modifier (13 on average with +3). Under the 2014 rules it started at 1d4 and added only 1d4 per level, so you needed a 4th-level slot to reach 4d4.

About this roller

DnD Dice Roller (dnddiceroller.org) rolls every die with your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator, crypto.getRandomValues, and uses rejection sampling so every face is exactly equally likely. The 3D dice only animate a result that has already been decided this way; the physics never picks the number. Rolls happen on your device and are never sent to our server.
