Where you roll 6d6 in D&D

Sneak Attack: Rogues reach 6d6 Sneak Attack at level 11 and keep it through level 12. On a critical hit every Sneak Attack die doubles, so a crit is 12d6 plus doubled weapon dice, 42 on average from Sneak Attack alone. That is why rogues hunt for advantage and paralyzed or unconscious targets. The level-by-level table is in Sneak Attack in 5e.

Spells: Guiding Bolt is 4d6 radiant and adds 1d6 per slot level, so a 3rd-level slot gives 6d6 (21 on average) and the next attack against the target has advantage. Burning Hands in a 4th-level slot is also 6d6. Scorching Ray totals 6d6 when all three rays hit, but each ray is rolled as a separate 2d6. On the risky end, failing the save on Contact Other Plane costs you 6d6 psychic damage.

Monsters: A green dragon wyrmling is only CR 2, but its poison breath deals 6d6 (DC 11 Constitution save, half on a success) to everyone in a 15-foot cone, which can knock out two 1st-level characters at once. The 2024 blue dragon wyrmling's lightning breath is also 6d6, in a 30-foot line, and the 2024 assassin adds 6d6 poison to every crossbow hit. On 6d6 you roll 25 or more 20.58% of the time and 28 or more 6.08% of the time.

About this roller

DnD Dice Roller (dnddiceroller.org) rolls every die with your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator, crypto.getRandomValues, and uses rejection sampling so every face is exactly equally likely. The 3D dice only animate a result that has already been decided this way; the physics never picks the number. Rolls happen on your device and are never sent to our server.
