Ranger Spell List 5e
Rangers have 48 spells in the 2024 SRD 5.2, from 1st to 5th level and no cantrips. Hunter's Mark anchors the list, joined by nature and survival spells like Goodberry, Pass without Trace and Spike Growth. In the 2024 rules rangers cast from 1st level and always have Hunter's Mark prepared.
Rangers are Wisdom half casters. In the 2014 rules they learn a fixed set of spells starting at 2nd level. In the 2024 rules they cast from 1st level, use prepared spells from the class table, and can swap one spell after a long rest. The 2024 Favored Enemy feature keeps Hunter's Mark always prepared and gives you a few free casts of it each long rest.
Hunter's Mark adds 1d6 (3.5 on average) to every weapon hit, which adds up fast with two attacks a turn. Other strong low-level picks: Goodberry for out-of-combat healing, Entangle to pin a group, and Ensnaring Strike for a single runner. At 5th level, Pass without Trace gives the whole party +10 to Stealth, and Spike Growth turns a choke point into a meat grinder.
The catch: Hunter's Mark, Entangle, Spike Growth and Pass without Trace all need concentration. Decide before the fight which one you are running. If the party is sneaking, keep Pass without Trace up and skip the mark until combat starts.

Ranger spell list FAQ
How many spells are on the ranger spell list?
The 2024 SRD 5.2 has 48 ranger spells: 13 of 1st level, 15 of 2nd, 12 of 3rd, 5 of 4th and 3 of 5th. Rangers get no cantrips from their own list.
When do rangers get spells?
At 1st level in the 2024 rules and at 2nd level in the 2014 rules. Rangers cast up to 5th-level spells.
Is Hunter's Mark still good in 2024?
Yes for most rangers, since it is always prepared and has free casts. It still needs concentration, so it competes with Spike Growth and Pass without Trace.
Can rangers learn cantrips?
Not from the ranger list. In the 2024 rules the Druidic Warrior fighting style gives a ranger two druid cantrips.
